APH: A Different Perspective

Ahhhhh I couldn't resist. I really love the pairing of Cuba and Venezuela, and I really wanted to draw some fanart.
However, I wanted to try something different.

When I designed my Venezuela OC and made him a male, a lot of people pointed out that seeing a male Venezuela was kinda rare, since a majority of Venezuela OC's are portrayed as a female. So when I decided to draw some CuVene with my OC, I wanted it to be with a female Cuba, especially since the few fem!Cuba designs I have seen I have absolutely fallen in love with. I love how she is portrayed of having curves, and not being the same size as the others. And I just love drawing the dreadlocks omffff.
Cuba is already a less appreciated character as it is, and his fem counterpart is even less appreciated (but I'd say that's understandable because there isn't an official nyo design). They definitely need more love omg.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against male x male pairings. I have several in my ship list, as well as other ships from other fandoms. I guess to put it simply I just wanted to be more different and portray CuVene in a different way since having a male Venezuela was something different to see! c:

Also, I think this fem!Cuba design could be considered my own personal twist(?) but I'm sure it was influenced heavily by many different fem versions I saw before drawing her. Anyway, a little thought I had was that even though José cares a lot about his own personal appearance, he thinks that Carla (I like that name for fem!Cuba) looks beautiful just the way she is, even though she may not have the same body type as other girls, which is perfectly fine! c:

But please don't consider or label José as a Nyotalia design. I originally designed him as a male, not a nyotalia version of a female design.

I also tried to make a decent(?) looking background because I want to improve on my background making skills this year
