India x Colombia

FINALLY

ahh I was away for the past few days but now I can finally upload this! Mel and I have been wanting to share this for a while, but here it is! The reason we ship India and Colombia! Although these two don't have a lot of historical background, I still love this ship a lot! India and Colombia are great friends and personality wise they really connect! Anyway, here's the info! <3

Official relations between India and Colombia were established on January 19^th, 1959. The two countries attempted to create commercial relations in 1970 and a commercial accord was signed, but this wasn’t able to develop due to economic restrictions of foreign goods and geopolitical differences.  In March of 1972, Colombia opened an embassy in New Delhi, India. India established an embassy in Bogota in the following year. In 2001, the economic and mutual cooperation ties improved between the two countries when Colombian President Andres Pastrana Arango visited India. Both Colombia and India share similar economies, and due to these similarities they are able to establish cooperation. On August 23, 2007, reports from the Colombian government stated that the trade between India and Colombia was increasing.  Since 2007, the amount of trade has increased enormously, with bilateral trade totaling roughly 1.3 billion for the two countries back in 2012. Also, since 2010 12 companies from India have established themselves in Colombia, make a total of 36 Indian companies doing business in Colombia. It has been stated that Colombia’s strategic geographical position, good ports to the Atlantic and Pacific, and strengthening relations with the neighboring countries of Venezuela and Ecuador has made the country a more attractive location for Indian business. In return, not only has India brought oil and mining development, but the country has also introduced Infosys, an Indian IT consulting and outsourcing company. This means that the Colombian bank can monitor and interface with all its branches. Although this company is also located in Mexico and Brazil, it has chosen Colombia for its central location/political stability.

 

Both countries have noticeable similarities of views on global issues and have collaborated in various meetings. Since 1970, language and distance have been the major barriers, but recent developments point towards a very bright future for the economic relationship between the two countries.

 

India and Colombia both have colorful, vibrant cultures, as well as a very heavy dance culture. Personality wise, as Mel has stated, and I quote, “Both are attractive fuckers and probably superficial about it sigh.” But in all seriousness, both have very similar personalities. They are fun, loud, outgoing, and very confident, so they would be very comfortable with each other. India would have a spiritual side that could easily balance out Carmen’s feistiness/stubbornness, a hard task to accomplish, while on the other hand Colombia is a strong woman who can tear down India’s walls at her will. Colombia is essentially India’s best friend in Latin America and India is one of Colombia’s best friends in Asia. Although their interactions don’t span very far back throughout history, more and more over recent years these two have been growing close as friends through business and similar culture aspects. Their character dynamics result in an interesting yet loveable relationship.
